What should I pack, honey?

"What should we pack for our trip?"

My wife and I have been asking each other this question for the past 6 months, as we've geared up for an epic round-the-world trip. Many hours of research (and lots of credit card bills) later, our bags are pretty much packed. Just 3 weeks before takeoff!

Since we'll be carrying and living out of our backpacks for 7-8 months, we've had to be judicious with our packing. And since we'll put in lots of gear use on the road, we've decided to share our product experience in real-time on this blog.

Will three pairs of underwear really be enough? Which clothing is the best: Patagonia, North Face, or REI? And how effective is DEET against African, Indian, and Asian mosquitoes?

Just some of the questions that we hope to answer on our trip. Enjoy!

I spent 40 days traveling in Thailand between June and July this past summer - I was nearly eaten alive by all the bugs. DEET was decently effective, I think. So make sure you've got a good concentration in whatever bug spray you're bringing. In Thailand, there are two bug sprays you'll find just about everywhere. I think it's called Sketolene, if I remember right. The green label has no deet but has a more appealing smell than the yellow label. So you can sacrifice getting bitten or smelling like bug spray, your choice. hehe. All the best on your trip to you both. I'm going to be keeping up at the travel blog you two are keeping.
